Design Speaks Louder than Words
It is no secret that we’re living in the era of images, and in a world of short attention span, it is mandatory to focus on what most catches the eye of your audience when in the process of marketing for your brand.
This goes back to the fact that design speaks better than words, and so when you’re trying to spread the word about a new business, the design comes first.
Considering people make snap decisions and impressions about the brand based on their logo (or web page), having a good design is going to make you memorable on a surface level.
In 2005, a group called The Design Council studied 63 portfolios of companies that traded on the Financial Times Stock Exchange over the course of a decade. What they discovered was that the companies that put an emphasis on design did WAY BETTER than the ones that did not: they outperformed the FTSE 100 index by 200% in fact.
Building Trust through Design
That is to say that a good graphic design also adds to the trust that consumers have in you. For instance, badly designed websites are often dissmissed thus neither trusted nor visited. In contrast, a thoughtfully crafted design establishes credibility, inviting engagement and fostering positive consumer perceptions.
